Why Sex Education?
Times are changing, and these changing times demand education in the sphere of Sex, to make people understand their bodily developments, sexuality, relationships with opposite sex along with skill-building to help young people communicate about and make informed decisions regarding sex & their sexual health. A broad-minded viewpoint will help us free ourselves from the shackles of taboo, and thus make informed decisions.
The millennial generation is an inquisitive generation and are always probing for answers on things, that they feel cannot be discussed in open, sex being one of them. In this internet world, they seek for answers online, and sometimes end up being misinformed. Including a subject like this in school (Especially when the adolescence commences) can let kids discuss and understand better as to how to have a positive communication around sex. Parents could also benefit with such sessions by the doctors or counsellor in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs). They will be able to then create a safe environment back at home to have a healthy conversation with their children. Sessions in PHC’s and CHC’s, spreading of information in backward areas by volunteers from the professional medical field, making people aware about contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases are some measures to increase the scope of sex education.
Comprehensive sex education will in turn help in creation of a safer, well informed, and healthier society.
